Whiston Wildcats
Whiston Wildcats Girls' Section
Julie Wilding, Girls Secretary
Introduction
"Last season the number of girls and women playing in football leagues or cup competitions peaked at 130,000. There are over 8,000 girls' teams playing competitive football every week throughout the season. Whiston Wildcats JFC endeavour to introduce and develop players to put them on the right track. The rules are simple, the game is fun and with the help of our coaches, we will unlock your potential." About Us The Girls' Section is affiliated to the Sheffield and Hallamshire Girls County League, which is under the auspices of the F.A.'s Charter Standard accreditation system. We currently run 4 squads at Under 10's, 11's, 13's & 14's. We are intending to run a summer camp from the beginning of June 2007 onwards, for all age groups from U9's upwards. This will however, be dependant on the recruitment of players, managers, coaches etc. All coaches must be in possession of an F.A. Level 1 or above coaching badge, a valid First Aid certificate, child protection certificate and Criminal Records Bureau clearance.
History
2003 - 1st squad formed - The Under 10's, managed by Allan Ainsworth, won the League Fair Play Award. Each player was presented with a commemorative medal and The Club was presented with a cheque for £200. 2004 - Owing to The League operating a two year age band for squads, the squad had to be split, as some of the girls qualified as U10's & some as U12's. A new Manager was recruited for the Under 10's, with Stuart Lassmans taking control, together with new players to form this new squad. 2005 - Once again, squads had to be split owing to The League making all squads single age bands in line with Boys' League. This resulted in squads at U9's, U10's, U12's & U13's, following a summer school for girls as the recruitment continued. The Under 12's Girls were the first squad in the Wildcats' history to win their respective league division. More new managers were recruited, with Graham Hunt taking charge of the Under 9's and Rae Robinson stepping in to lead the Under 12's, with Allan Ainsworth moving to the Under 10's. 2006 - This year, The League again changed the format of The League in line with the boys, resulting in and the Under 13's & Under 14's are now playing 11 a-side matches.
